Group lessons or private lessons: which to choose for your trip to Baqueira?

Both options can work very well. You need to be clear about your priorities and, from there, decide between group or private lessons.

The first thing we want you to know is that we only run group lessons for children. Over the years we have found that for adults, private lessons are always better, even if only for a few hours: adult students need the attention that only an exclusive lesson can give.

The first thing to consider is cost: group lessons are cheaper than private ones, and that matters. Even so, a private lesson goes a long way, as it is aimed at fewer students, or even just one.

When the students are children, up to the age of 12 at our school, you can choose between group and private lessons. Both are good options; here are the advantages of each.

Group lessons

Recommended when, as well as learning, you want your child to socialise. The snow environment helps develop their communication skills because it is a challenge and, as a sporting activity, emotions tend to run high, which helps children push themselves.

In group lessons children learn from the instructors’ explanations and activities, but also by imitation: improving alongside other children is a great motivation and leads to fast learning.

There are also more ways to use play as a learning tool, and progress happens in a very proactive atmosphere. The lessons also focus on the relationships between students and on the core values of skiing: both on the slopes and during café breaks, young skiers learn exactly how to get around a ski resort.

Private lessons

Especially recommended when children are very young and just starting out: the instructor’s undivided attention helps the child feel safe in a new environment that can feel intimidating (the cold, the sound of skis on the snow, people moving quickly all around).

They are also a good choice when a child already has some level and you want to focus on more effective technical progress, working intensively on specific aspects.

Beyond these general points, the best thing to do when booking is to tell us about your child’s personality, and we’ll be happy to advise you. Our team includes instructors who specialise in teaching children and who know how to get the most out of every lesson so they become great skiers.

Our motto is always: learn while having fun.

Best wishes, the SkiClass team
